Breast Self-Exam Instructions
Breast self examination (BSE) is the first of the three-step process for routine breast care to help in the early detection of breast cancer. (The other two steps are mammograms and clinical breast examinations.)
To Life!s BSE instructors are staff and volunteers, most of whom are breast cancer survivors. All are familiar with the issues affecting women concerned with breast health. They will tailor instruction sessions to meet your needs. They will visit your place of work, school, community center, school or place of worship to present a program of suitable length and level of detail for your group. Work groups frequently request lunchtime or after-work presentations.
Using breast models, charts and handouts, To Life! volunteers and staff will demonstrate the proper technique for BSEs and distribute explanatory literature and shower cards that remind women to perform monthly BSEs .
